The challenge

Fidessa group is the leading supplier of multi-asset trading, portfolio analysis, decision support, compliance, market data and connectivity solutions for firms involved in trading the world’s financial markets. With around 800 staff across the UK, Fidessa need to know that they can reach their staff with key information in the event of a disaster or unforeseen incidents. Having experienced the difficulty in managing staff when snow storms temporarily closed an office, Fidessa looked to incorporate and improve the use of mobile communications in the areas of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning.

The solution

Fidessa chose to implement Rapide Premium; a desktop communication service that allows SMS messaging from the PC out to mobile devices and vice versa. The incident management text functionality (just one of many communication tools in Rapide Premium) allows Fidessa to contact all their mobile devices requesting a specific keyword response such as ‘Safe’. The service automatically filters all responses enabling Fidessa to see instantly those who have responded correctly; those who have responded with something other than the keyword and, of course, those who haven’t responded at all. For less intense incidents the service enables Fidessa to contact all mobile devices quickly and easily.

The Results

The implementation of Rapide Premium has significantly aided the way Fidessa will communicate, regardless of the incident. It saves valuable time and resource for the business on the whole, enabling instant communication with all of the 800+ employees as opposed to the inconsistent and sometimes slow process of filtering messages down through the respective management teams and call trees. Reliable messaging services and FAST delivery means that Fidessa can now concentrate on the content of their communications without worrying over ‘how’ they are going to deliver their messages.
