Hearts FC Case Study
Inbound SMS makes football safer!
The challenge
Monitoring and maintaining responsible behaviour of large crowds of fans was becoming an increasing challenge to Hearts Football Club due to the rising cost of resources and technology. They were spending more and more money on additional policing and stewards to maintain control over the ever growing fan-base.
To help make sure Tyncastle remains one of the safest and most exciting places to watch Scottish Premier League football, Hearts has teamed up with Rapide to provide the latest in mobile messaging technology - encouraging the fans themselves to be vigilant and report unsavoury behaviour.
The solution
Alerting the stewards to any abusive or aggressive situations during match days couldn’t be simpler for Hearts fans, now that they have an Inbound SMS service.
Anyone who spots a potentially dangerous or abusive situation can immediately and anonymously alert the Control Centre, giving details of the problem, along with their location, by sending a text message from their mobile phone to “63333”.
The SMS is presented instantly to the Control Centre security team at the Football Club. They will respond to any text received with a discrete reply SMS and then dispatch additional response and security to deal with the situation quickly.
The benefits
By using Rapide’s solution, Hearts FC have increased the speed with which they can respond to anti-social behaviour - saving time and allowing more effective resource deployment.
The Inbound SMS service also enables the club to work more closely with the stadium stewards and West Lothian & Borders Police, helping to achieve a smoother, more efficient operation.
The end result is that Tyncastle football is made a safer, more exciting
experience for everyone involved.
