Pub and bar displays were the focus of Whitbread’s latest promotional effort. To get everyone involved, healthy rivalry was encouraged between staff across the country by running a competition to find the best point of sale display.
Whitbread used Rapide’s Multi-Media Messaging Service (MMS) to receive photo entries as picture messages from staff. The competition was launched in the staff magazine ‘Liquid Gold’. Bar staff took photos of their display using a camera phone, then sent an MMS - picture text message - into a short code number at Rapide. The photos are displayed online and the team at Whitbread can see them straightaway. The best point of sale displays are picked by the Whitbread team, with winners enjoying fame and glory in the next edition of the staff magazine.
