The Nuclear Accident Response Organisation (NARO), part of the Royal Navy, rely on texts sent through Rapide to recall specialist teams in the event of a nuclear accident onboard a Royal Navy submarine. Fortunately incidents are very rare and the training exercises used to test the system across many of the UK's main naval dockyards and ports have achieved 100% success record.
Mobile phones form a vital part of the Royal Navy's communication chain. Text messages recall crew from shore leave, advising them that their ship is under Sailing orders.

Personnel may be asked to confirm their availabilty to return to port and report for duty.
Rapide is also a key part in policing the use of all 6,000 Royal Navy phones. A text message is sent to the phone to confirm the user's details. This help the Fleet Telephone Services Team when they believe it may have fallen into the wrong hands, or control use if it is being used to access numbers that contravene Royal Navy regulations. |
