The Next Frontier In Employee Communication

The business value of mobile communications has increased significantly in the past two years as costs have fallen and devices have improved. “New media has begun to improve the ability of companies to enhance employee communication,” say industry experts.

TCI is a global project management group that provides construction services to wind energy industries. Each TCI project engineer manages up to 40 construction sites at a time, relying heavily on mobile communications.
Guy Avery, Systems Development Manager says that since switching to mobile communications two years ago, TCI has reduced communication costs by 30% and seen huge gains in productivity and efficiency.

  • Active, not passive
The key benefit of mobile tools is to help employees actively participate in creating and sharing information. Mass e-mails or intranet posts are passive by comparison. This shift to employee-generated content has resulted in employees becoming more engaged online and on WAP sites.

  • Help during economic downturn
Companies are using mobile communication to engage employees to best effect during the looming economic downturn.
Mobile communication gives great value. It’s a terrific, non-expensive way of keeping people informed and moving information around a company to make the company more customer responsive.
Mobile media differs from traditional media with its expense, planning and significant overhead to achieve the same objective – to keep employees focused and engaged and is even more applicable when capital expenses are tight.

How does it work?

You add a five digit short dial number and a keyword to your article or poster, this can be a different keyword for different locations if required.

Your employees send an ordinary SMS text with a keyword so you know what information they're after and where they've seen the code.

The text reply includes a link to your WAP site which includes all the information your employees might need to know - just like you would on your regular website. So you might include a download, pictures or music and key information to update them.

So if your company has hit the headlines, you’ve caught the attention of your employees and they want to know more right now you can set this up instantly AND capture their comments instantly too if you want to.
