Text Auctions and Reverse Auctions
A text auction is just like a traditional auction
Bids are sent by SMS Text Message into a Text Short Number. A text response will tell you if you're the highest bidder, if someone outbids you or if your bid falls short of the highest. No one knows who is bidding or how much they've offered.
It's an excellent way to raise money for a community project or charity.
A reverse auction awards the item to the lowest unique bid. It could be used to raise awareness as part of a marketing campaign, or generating income by reverse billing for the text messages.
